Whisper - Installation Documentation

"Whisper" is an exploration of the transformation and translation of events and energies through multiple medias and interpreters. Often nowadays our interactions and histories are recorded and preserved in a digital format, real physical events replayable by ones and zeroes. Through this process, our own reactions and interpretations of events can be significantly altered compared to if we were there ourselves.

The interpretation process:
The viewer will make a noise, the vibrations of which will be picked up by a microphone. That microphone then digitizes that vibration of air to be read by a computer using a simple number value. That number value is then fed to an arduino, which interprets that number value as a measure of amperage to send to an array of computer fans. The fans blow, again creating vibration and force through air, which interacts and is "interpreted" by the lightweight fabric.

I have plans to keep this project growing, probably expanding to an entire wall with multiple microphones and fans which are triggered independently of one another.
